Recognition at the NaSTAs

Last night was all a bit of a blur. I was in shock.

I’m delighted to hear that the Good Weekend Festival coverage has been highly commended by the judges including T4 Presenter, Georgie Okell. The decision to travel with all our camera gear on the train from Sunderland all the way to Winchester last Summer was one I won’t regret now! This latest recognition for myself and Spark Sunderland has cemented my passion for creating fun and thought-provoking TV content.

In addition to that recognition, Spark Sunderland scooped wins in Best Comedy for Not The News Network as well as another Highly Commended in Best Sport for Aye Sports – Derby Special.

The award winners were announced at the ceremony hosted by NU:TS TV at Nottingham University on Saturday evening. Reports later on last night suggested the website was viewed by 7,000 unique visitors with hundreds of people watching the night onfold via the live stream. It’s been claimed to be the biggest and most sucessful ceremony since the beginning of the National Student Television Awards in 1989.

A huge thank you is owed to Elliot Kerr who had the faith in the coverage and entered it into the awards!

Congratulations to all the winners!
